Baby Laila

I wonder if we'll always call her Baby Laila like Dog calls his daughter Baby Lisa even though she's got to be atleast my age.
But I digress.
She's growing up too fast. Today I was holding her and I was rubbing my cheek against her sweet, chubby, super soft cheek and it felt so good. She just sat still in my arms because I know she liked it too. I know she liked it because when I stopped she turned my face with her hand so I could do it some more.
What a treat.

Someone Got a Haircut

Isn't Cecelia's haircut SO cute?!? I thought she'd be sad at first, but instead she keeps staring at herself in the mirror and whipping her hair around in complete and total joy. She reminds me of my 2-year-old version of herself and I love it.

We had another semi-eventful weekend. Bill was gone Friday night and I had a training and work on Saturday. Bill brought the girls to the library Saturday morning while I was gone which I thought was pretty cool. I got to have a sushi lunch with my girl Clare after our training and then a little consignment shopping after that since everyone was napping at the house by the time I was ready to come home. We took the girls for a bike ride and poor CeCe did a face plant right as we were getting back the house. I had about 10 minutes before I had to head to work so I brought bloody CeCe in and Bill followed with the other two. We managed to get all their snowpants off and such and then I had to get going. And, of course, since things weren't crazy enough with a dramatic 6-year-old bleeding and crying on the living room floor so Delaney decided to pee all over the bathroom. My heart broke for my husband as I skipped out the door for work.

Sunday afternoon I went with a friend to get her little one a new "big girl" carseat. It was a big day for the Mom, but was high time the 13-month-old was out of the carrier :) (wink, wink "M"). After that it was off to work again for me.

Like I said, semi-eventful.

I really really need to get going on some projects around here:

organizing baby clothes for donation/sale/keep

digging out the storage under the stairs to see what's actually in there

get new light fixtures

change light bulbs

fix some broken doors and such

organize my office

etc., etc., etc.

However, we just got done with school and lunch and bath and are going to head for bed for a little quiet time. I will take that time to catch up a little on my DVR. Hasta la vista to do list.

Good Times

As you can see at the top of this post we are having a day at home because of the holiday. And, quite frankly, I'm tired of chasing.

We had a really really great weekend. Saturday we took the girls to the MN Zoo. They were having an indoor beach party for the kids. We saw a bird show, shark and (EEK!) eel feeding, dophin training, hybernating grizzly bears and took a trip on the monorail. It was a beautiful day - we actually drove through downtown on our way there to look at all the white trees and buildings. It felt good to get out as a family. Unfortunately, I had to work Saturday night but I got off early which was nice

Sunday Bill helped me get some "to do" list things done - one of which was to clean under the girls' bed. Lord Almighty it looked like an episode of Hoarders. Paper and socks and toys and dust and random stuff galore. We had to open their window to get some fresh air in. Lessoned learned: check under the bed every one and a while.

I worked Sunday afternoon and my wonderful husband went to task for me: bathing the kids, going to the store, delivering Valentine's, folding laundry, etc. etc.

After work I picked up some Chinese and we had a Chinese Valentine's dinner. The girls made homemade Valentine's for Bill and I and I have beautiful roses sitting in my living room right now.

I'm a happy girl.

The other pictures above are from Laney's preschool program last week (so cute!). And, of course, Laila doing her best Hitler impersonation. Why does she think it's funny to eat diaper cream any time she can?? Anyone? Anyone?

Things Mothers Say...

but don't really mean:

I'm going to throw him/her out the window.

I'm going to leave him/her on a street corner somewhere.

I'm going to kill him/her.

Can I just ducktape his/her mouth shut?

Now, before you go and call CPS on me this is OBVIOUSLY supposed to be a humorous post.
Do you ever find yourself muttering these things??

Unfortunately, I have self diagnosed myself with this disorder.

The good news? I woke up this morning to SUNSHINE and it instantly put a smile on my face.

Today is going to be a good day.
