I haven't had much going on in the old noggin lately so that's why you haven't read much from me this week.
I tend to go in to a little 'funk' after getting back from a vacation and am hoping to emerge sometime this week. Not to say things haven't been going well, but the weeks of anticipation and the actual trip itself always makes life more interesting.
Today I am more tired than anything, but had to post to say how much FUN we had with the Tortorice's this weekend!!
Big Al slept for, oh I'd say, 50-55 hours while he was here. I'm pretty sure I know what he looks like even if I only got to see the whites of his eyes for a minute or two.
Anthony and CeCe buddied up all weekend and Laney tried to tag along when they let her. I try and make CeCe include her sister as to not hurt her feelings. I imagine this will be a lifelong struggle.
We got to play some Wii (will I ever get my own??) and just hang out - eat some good food and drink a little too much.
It sucks big time that we don't live closer.
Anyway, we've got another full week this week so I'm just trying to put my house back together to get a leg up on things.
I promise to upload either pictures or a video this week to keep things worth reading.

T.G.I.F. Again.
Sometimes just trying to get through Friday to get to Friday night is tough. Especially when it requires lugging around small children in freezing cold weather. Not my favorite.
On deck for this weekend, you ask? Dinner out tonight (no cook Friday, woo-hoo!). Dad and Marilyn will be here tomorrow (double woo-hoo!). We're all having lunch at my Grandma's tomorrow since she was gone over Christmas and while we're there I get to do my aunt Minda's hair 80's style for her 80's prom party she's going to. Can you say hairspray and scrunchie???
I have to work as well, but I couldn't get out of it. C'este la vie.
I'll try and catch the Oscars on Sunday, but I haven't been to the movies in a long time so I can't even say who I want to win. Guess I'll watch for the fashion.

A Little Substance

Back to life, back to reality. I know someone famous sang those lyrics too.
When thinking about what we would do with our lives if given the chance to have a fresh start, I started thinking about what we really want out of life vs. what we would/have/will do just so that we look good to other people.
I've just realized more and more how judgemental people can be and how no matter how many times you tell yourself you don't care what other people think...we really do care.
For example, me waitressing at the ripe old age of 33 with 3 small children at home probably seems icky to some people - and I think about that.
Cecelia starting school has added to the list of things to worry about.
I worry about what people think in regards to a lot of things because it seems like it has become the "norm" for people to state their opinion whether you ask for it or not.
I guess I just don't understand why people have to be SO judgemental all the time.
It's almost as if people are offended if you don't do things exactly the way they would. I mean, down to the smallest of things like if you don't feed your kids the same way that they do, or discipline them the same way that they do, or send them to the same school that they send their kids to. And then it goes in to bigger things, like if you don't agree about a political stance the same way they do.
What happened to people just being gratious?
Everywhere I turn it's like "isn't your kid too old for a pacifier?" or "why would you want to live there?"or "you're going to let your kid get away with not eating her peas?" or "you're making your kid eat peas?" or "nice pants, felt like dressing up today, huh?" or "I would let my husband do that!" (these are not all personal examples, just off the top of my head).
It's just crazy that the people who think they've got it so right are the worst ones at judging others. Seriously, last time I checked there was only one judge, and you're not Him, buddy.
I've made it my own personal resolution to put an end to my own judging. It's time to re-focus on myself, what's really important to me, Bill and our family and simply let the rest go.
