Or....

I could go on and on about how the state of politics are right now. I mean, people calling eachother names and comparing the opposite party to a bowel movement?? Really people? I feel stuck in the middle sometimes - I don't hate (all) rich people and I don't hate (all) people on welfare. I'm for all people and what ever happened to keeping religion and politics out of polite conversation? I could go on about how nobody can pronounce my children's names or ever spell them right, or how some people go out of their way to choose "unique" names for these poor children who have to live with it their whole life (some would argue I did this. Oops.). I could go on about how adults judge eachother in regards to what is deemed as "appropriate" behavior or how some grown ups have no sense of responsibility for themselves or their children, pawning them off every chance they get. I could have you all help me out in learning how to landscape my yard by myself and actually feel proud of how it looks.
Or......
I can just post a picture of my baby showing you that she's been raised by Chimps. I think I'll do that :)

What Should We Talk About?

I was thinking the other day about how cool it would be to have an anonymous blog where you can say anything you want without people being apalled at ME, or where I could say some things that I shouldn't say but then not have to be responsible and own it.

But for now what should we talk about?
wierd baby names, or names that you have to tell people how to say and spell?
appropriate and non-appropriate adult behavior?
how frustrating it is to get political emails and facebook postings?
ways I can spruce up my landscaping on the cheap?
Whatd'ya think?

Women

I sent my mom a link to a dress that I am considering buying to attend a couple of weddings I have coming up. (I haven't bought a new dress in years. Like pre-children years.)

At any rate, she responded (in part) that "black after 5:00 is the rule, I think."

It got me to thinking more about the role women play in other women's lives. It seems that this generation looks more to our side - at the women walking next to us - more than we do to the generations before us.
Now, more than ever, it seems like our mothers and grandmothers generations are not as relatable.

Sometimes I wish I could be more like my own Mom and Grandma. They both have so much poise and grace. I mean, don't get me wrong, my Mom taught me how to throw a football and my Grandma would probably still be riding a snowmobile if she had one. It's just that when it comes to certain social etiquette things have shifted a little.
There are some things that are just simply ingrained in me, like dressing up for church and when you travel. But then there are some things that are different, like my expectations for my husband in terms of running a household and raising our children.

I think it would be SO cool to sit down with a multi-generational group of women to really talk about where women are right now. I'd love to hear the thoughts and possible criticisms of the women who have walked before us. I would also love to pick their brains about what it was like to be a woman (or Mom) 10-20-30-40-50 years ago.

Someone should set that up.

I Wish There More Days in a Week

I mean, I guess I really don't want my weeks to be longer, but I want more days that are not already filled. Like Famday (day designated for everyone to be home and do something fun). Shopday (day designated to get all the shopping done at once, and maybe even a little window shopping if there's time). Frienday (day designated so spend time with one of many friends you don't see often enough. Dateday (day designated so spend time with your hub or wifey - ALONE!). Openday (day designated to take on any and all "pop-up" appointments, ailments, conferences, younameitses).
I mean, that would cover it, right? Then Monday - Sunday can stay with the usual school, work, activity status.
Not a bad idea.

Talking to a Brick Wall

I have to tell you, trying to get through to this kid is borderline painful. She seriously lives in her own little world right now. There are so many struggles with her on a day to day basis and when you try and remind her of the rules you get nothing.
For example:
me: "Delaney: why were you in time out?"
correct response: hitting Laila
Laney: "Butterflies have wings"
Hello brick wall.
