Bill and I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary on Sunday and as I was laying in bed I started thinking about how our relationship and our lives have changed SO much in that time.
Of course, I had the perfect blog post in my head at the time, but now can only remember the main point:
I feel that now a days it is so easy for us to give in. Whether it be with our spouse or with our children, it just seems so prevalent.
Even though I have a million wonderful things to say about my husband I'd be lying if I said we didn't have difficult moments, or whole days go by without really talking, or even times when I wonder WHAT THE HECK WE HAVE IN COMMON??
It's so easy to let that wall build up between us and it's work to break it down sometimes - but we do - and it always feels better afterwords.
I don't ever want to be that couple that is married "for the kids" or just stay married but sleep in different bedrooms and lead completely different lives. What's the point of that?
It's the same thing with our kids. It can be beyond exhausting sometimes just to get through a day.
It would be so much easier to just let them act like wild goats - but you can't - and it pays off.
The point is that you have to keep fighting the fight.
Give that hug even if the thought of another person hanging off your body gives you the shivers.
Choose to let the other person be the crab for today.
Speak to your child when she is acting up in public.
Repeat yourself for the millionth time.
As hard as it is - if you want to have a real marriage and children who others can tolerate then fight the fight.

Happy 3rd Birthday Delaney
Honestly, she is just beyond adorable. She's just a waif of a thing - Bill and I look at her when she's fresh out of the tub and just laugh because she's such a peanut!
She's goofy and cuddly. She's smart and sassy. She's sneaky!
I took the girls to Como this morning to celebrate and Laney went on the swing ride for the first time. I'm in anguish that I didn't have the camera because it was the most amazing thing to watch.
When her and CeCe first got in their swings Laney turned to CeCe and asked her to hold her hand. I told Laney that if she doesn't like the ride just yell for me and I'd get her out.
Those swings went up and started to spin and her grin was SO BIG!! She was giggling so hard it was making me laugh with her.
I'm telling you, it was just perfect.
I love that little monkey more than life itself. I just cannot believe that she's already 3!

Clunkily Junkily
That's how Kate (from Jon and Kate Plus 8 on Monday and no I'm not commenting right now on their drama sorry) referred to birthday party goodie bags.
Laney's party is on Saturday and I have to agree - this goodie bag thing is stupid. Nobody wants their kid coming home with more clunkily junkily!
I've done balloons in the past - might have to go that route again.
Thoughts??

OMG
I can't believe this is happening but I have to tell you all that I (me, myself and I ALONE) am going to Miami next month to join my Mom at a trade show for 5 days!
We are staying at a resort very close to South Beach and I am SO excited!
Having said that, I am sort of freaking out a little about being gone for so long without any of my other 4 limbs along. I have never done anything like this and am not sure how I'm going to feel, but my hopes are that I get my batteries recharged up and come back a more relaxed, happier and less stressed Mom and wife.
Can you believe it???

Snap
That's what happens to me when I get angry. I snap. It's like there's a switch that gets flipped and all my patience and reason get locked up in a dark corner somewhere. I hate it.
For example: during lunch today Delaney was crawling on the table to reach a washcloth I was using for Laila instead of sitting nicely and knocked over her entire cup of milk all over herself, the table, chair and floor.
Now, I do not get upset over spilled milk, but was does upset me is that it got spilled because she was screwing around at the lunch table.
I cleaned up the milk and asked her to take her pants off, and then asked again, and then again and then again and she just stood there saying no and crying.
I snapped.
I brough her in her room and pulled her pants off and tossed her in her bed. I gave her the look of death and said that if she starts to scream and wake up her baby sister I was going to be really angry.
After a few minutes she started calling out my name so I went back in there to talk and explain why she was sitting in her room instead of eating lunch. She said sorry, we hugged and she came back out to join the group.
I have such guilt over these types of things. I swear I read these blogs from these perfect moms out there who never say anything except how their children are just so wonderful and perfect and I wonder: am I doing something wrong here???
I mean, I really would rather keep my blog as positive as possible. I remind myself that the reason I started this blog was just to keep friends and family involved in our life.
But, darn it, sometimes life just isn't pretty around here.
So any of you ever snap? Do you snap over little things? How do you keep yourself from erupting if you aren't a snapper?
I really want to know.

Mother's Day 2009
I've got one crawling around upstairs pulling herself up on to the garbage can sucking on the plastic garbage bag.
I've got another one talking to a cup telling it she loves it, it's OK, Laney's here (she is obsessively in love with many inanimate objects throughout the day).
And then there's one singing "Best of Both Worlds" in to the microphone all while watching herself in front of the mirror.
These three girls are the reason I get to be a part of Mother's Day tomorrow.
There's no job more important.
There's no love as deep.
Whether your children are here or have passed on to a better world - a mother's love is undying and endless.
Happy Mother's Day all!
